Samsung has just launched a very interesting product, the Galaxy A6 plus. The device arrives to be a kind of hybrid between the strongest model of the Galaxy J series and the start of the Galaxy “A” series, before the Galaxy S line. Basically, it is a product aimed at those looking for a terminal with updated hardware inside of the mid-range. Next, we tell you our first impressions.
Samsung Galaxy A6 +: Availability and price
The Galaxy A6 + was announced by Samsung on May 25 in both physical and online stores, with a suggested retail price of €369. The Galaxy A6 plus will be available in blue, black and gold.
Soul of “A”, the body of “J”
Visually, the A6 + attracts a lot of attention, mainly due to the fact that its back is quite similar to that of a more recent Galaxy J model. The current versions of the models that make up the Galaxy A 2018 series – 2017 also, incidentally – have a glass finish on the back and slightly curved sides, with a final result more similar to that we have in the line Galaxy S. The Galaxy A6 + follows a different proposal, with aluminum housing and smooth back.
Despite this difference, you can easily appreciate some details of the Galaxy S9 on the Galaxy A6 +, such as the position of the biometric sensor, and the dual camera system, in the case of the Galaxy S9 +. Samsung has been smart and includes two trays for removable SIM cards and memory, one for the microSD and the first SIM and one second for the SIM 2.
AMOLED screen “little infinite”
Not that this is a problem, but the famous Infinite screen follows another pattern in this model, which is an aspect that Samsung has been working on the lines below the Galaxy S. The screen does not get to make the return with the edges in the Edge standard but the front use is quite interesting, resulting in the removal of physical buttons and the Samsung logo. We can say that it is an almost infinite screen… almost.
However, the Super AMOLED screen boasts vibrant colours as well as brightness and high contrast. The resolution here is Full HD +, 1080 x 2220 pixels, on a 6-inch screen with 18: 9 aspect. The screen is good, both for strong light and also in low light, with results above the average for the playback of videos.
MicroUSB mini, present
Samsung has provided the A6 plus with an acceptable storage capacity, which is 32GB and 3GB of RAM. The processor, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450, however, is not the newest and neither of the most powerful of this type of smartphones.
The RAM ends up saving performance, allied with storage, mainly when multitasking begins to be overloaded. But in the case of the Micro USB, I confess that it was a bit difficult to understand or accept the presence of that entry in the A6 +.
Samsung itself has used the USB-C in its latest models, such as the Galaxy A8, for the fact of facilitating a load and a transfer of data and information faster. At least, some aspects if they were kept in the A6 +, as the standard input for headphones.
Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus: Oreo well “stuffed”
If Android Oreo is a cookie, then Samsung is the manufacturer that puts more stuff in it. The Samsung Experience is present and full of features, such as Samsung Pay (only via NFC), Bixby (Home, Vision and Reminder), Dual Messenger, animated stickers for camera or theme store, among others.
Camera software continues to stand out among Galaxy smartphones, and it would not be different with the Galaxy A6 +. As well as the S9 +, the A6 + has a double camera that is able to take pictures with the blurred background effect more convincingly.
The main sensors are 16 MP + 5 MP, both with lens aperture f / 1.7, which is ideal to get more lighting in less favourable conditions and with lower noise. The front camera has an incredible 24 MP (f / 1.9), with good range and accompanied by an LED flash. The software comes with numerous filters of augmented reality masks and tools for image editing.

The Galaxy A6 plus arrives with the objective of positioning a hybrid model in the current portfolio of Samsung, between lines A and J, and with a price of €369.
Samsung is producing quality screens and good resolution, along with an excellent set of cameras, with updated software and other extras. The main cons, at least in the hands-on, are due to the presence of the micro USB instead of the USB Type-C and a slightly outdated processor.
