LG G7 ThinQ: a true character in terms of performance

We are used to the fact that high-end smartphones have a great performance. Especially with chipsets like the Snapdragon 835 or even the most recent Snapdragon 845 is breaking all records in the Android segment. How has this high-performance chip behaved in our LG G7 preproduction model? We can overtake you very well.

The G7 is not intimidated by normal games. Even after a few games to the Riptide GP Renegade with the highest level of detail, the G7 is still warm. Other games also work with total fluency and without the slightest problem. There is no doubt: the Snapdragon 845 is up to the current demands.

For gamers, the G7 can be a very good option, at least in terms of performance. At most, we can mention the problem presented by the mono speaker, which emits the sound downwards. Especially when playing it is easy for it to be covered, which affects the sound a lot. The notch, however, does not bother when playing, since full-screen applications do not protrude beyond the notch line, so the content is not cut at all.

LG G7: Benchmarks reveal a rapid drop in performance

There is a problem with the benchmarks. The demanding 3DMark Slingshot benchmark demands so much from the chip that it makes the G7 get very hot. This means that if we run it several times in a row, the results will get worse. However, this only happened in the Slingshot benchmark, which puts against the strings even the most modern smartphones.

You can see that the Snapdragon 845 can only maintain its maximum performance for a few minutes, then the LG G7 begins to lower its performance. However, Slingshot is explicitly designed to push the chipsets that will arrive in the coming years to the limit. In the current games, this loss of performance of the LG G7 is not appreciated.

Comparison of LG G7 in benchmarks

Anyway, we must say that the LG G7 loses if we compare it with the current top class. Especially the Sony Xperia XZ2 clearly imposes itself on the G7. Before we finish, let the benchmark numbers speak for themselves.

LG G7: a powerful device that lowers its performance quickly

The values of the benchmarks for the LG G7 are below expectations for a Snapdragon 845, (like the one that includes the Sony Xperia XZ2). It is surprising how quickly the performance of the G7 drops. However, it should be noted that this is a pre-production model whose software has not yet been optimized.

But, if we leave aside the results of the benchmarks, we can immediately see that the LG G7 offers great performance and nothing can stop it. The loss of performance seen in the benchmarks is not appreciated when playing the most current games.
